Edwards gets 3 weeks probation

General NASCAR discussion. This is the place to bitch about Tony Stewart or discuss why Jack Rousch doesn't want Kyle Busch.

I don't know what NASCAR means by probation, but if it means avoiding incident I am sure Edwards finished what he wanted to do already so probation is probably pointless. I am not for punishment by the sanctioning body anyway. Though being 150 laps down and wrecking the 6th place car is pretty bad.

I just found it interesting how Carl was so upset about things he caused himself. Both early in this race and last year at Talladega were cases when Keselowski had position and did nothing wrong, but Carl wrecked himself off Brad's nose. If you listen to Carl's spotter at Atlanta he is clearly telling Carl there's a car inside repeatedly but he still tried to drop in and wrecked himself.

Typical NASCAR. I see they just don't play favorites at the local level.

Im guessing a lot of the leaniency is because they have been preaching all this time that this year, the gloves are off, they are going to let the boys be boys and "race like they did in '79"

Im guessing this isn't what they had in mind though!

Will be interesting to see what they do if they get near each other the rest of the year! LOL

It should be a new rule "If you go to the garage for repairs, you are declairing that you withdraw from the race and should be told to load it into the trailer." This coming out 100+laps down (for points?)and causing a wreck that takes someone whose stayed competitive all day out of the race is just plain dumb. The points champion shoud be the one who did the best job all year of racing on the track, not fixing their car just to salvage whats left of the race in a hope to gain a few points back.

And Mark, your right, I don't this is over between those two by a longshot. :(

I think the punishment for Carl Edwards is pointless!!!!! I understand the boys will be boys thing I am all for that. But when you intentionally wreck someone because he didn't give him enough room is just stupid! I am worried what this is going to bring for the rest of the year. It's like telling the drivers "Yes go ahead and wreck someone for pay back that's fine just know we will put you on probation" Yeah I think it could get really interesting. I think Nascar really dropped the ball on this one. Im just worried for the safety of the drivers I dont want to see anyone get hurt. Im not a huge Keslowski fan and I know he has his drama with other drivers too, but what Edwards did was out of line since he created it all himself. (I'm really not a fan of horsemouth :) Sorry just had to vent a little.

This is definitely a scarey precident they are setting with this decision. It should be interesting to see how the rest of the year goes with not only these two drivers, but the multiple others that have scuffles over the year. There might be a lot more wrecked cars this year!

This begs the question, since LaCrosse is a NASCAR HomeTrack.....are they adopting the "gloves are off" policy?  There might be a lot of 3 week probations!

Bristol should be fun to watch if NASCAR is only handing out three weaks of probation for that kind of driving. Wait, isn't that what NASCAR wants?

Grey Ghost, Bristol now isn't what Bristol should be. Progressive banking? Why destroy the great history of this track? Then a huge rivalry between Edwards & Keslowski is heating up & we go to a track where you can politely pass? Rip that cement up & give back the groove everyone fought to have!!! This track was the track where the gloves came off, not where they can be glittered up. On top of that, take away a California race & give the Labor Day race back to Darlington where it should be! They don't dare touch the Daytona 500, so why did they mess with the Darlington. Also we need The Rock & North Wilksboro back into the tope 3 divisions again.

About Talladega when Keslowski wrecked Edwards, Edwards didn't see that Brad did anything wrong. But since then, Brad has had a bumper to Hamlin & drives Edwards dirty. He just had his breaking point. In my mind, Brad had it coming. It was just unfortunate that he flipped over. Thank NASCAR for removing those & implimenting back the old Spoilers they used to run.
