January Ice 2012

Wow is it cold. -25 tonight with wind chill, dont think I will be fishing in the am. Will wait till afternoon and try the evening bite. Boy have the pike been on fire this year. Some giants have been comming in and alot of nice eaters to mach. no problem getting picklers..Bass action is really good to. I dont want to think what I have spent on shinners this year..

Ice fishing

Well the first ice is in and then its gone and now its back in again and will see how this week goes with some warmer days in the forecast. Bite has been better on cloudy days do to clear ice. All lures have been producing fish. Main channel is still wide open and some nice walleye and sauger have been comming in.. Stay safe ice is still on the iffy side in alot of places..

August..

Wow August is almost gone, the kids are back in school, and you can see a few Maples showing signs of fall already. The last month has been very good even with the high water. Once a person put the time in and figurs out the high water bight, its alot of fun. Now the end of August and we are all most back to normal levels and its a new river. The old river has dropped 3 feet in a little over a week and they say it should stay around 6 foot for about a week. Small jigs and twisters or a slip bobber and a worm for gills and crappie. Jigs, jerk baits and top water for the bass which are really on the chew. Walleyes are trolling then when you find them pich a jig at them..

July bite heats up!!

The first couple of weeks in July the bite has been awesome. Even with higher than normal river levels all fish have been on the chew. Jigs in darker colors, frogs and Buzz baits have been good for bass and Pike. Trolling and jigging with live bait have been good for the walleye. Find cover like wood and docks for crappie and gills. But as they say all good things must come to a end. Had ALOT of rain again and the river has started to muddy up and go back on the rise. Also had a very large May fly Hatch this week and with the water going back up that will just prolong the hatch. Hopefully things will clean up by the end of the week for up and comming clients..

Back to high water

Like I was saying in past report the river is changing on a daily basis. Well, its changing for the worse again. Heavy rain has caused the water to raise and muddy up and should crest around 10 foot by the 28th of June. Just Great!!!!
